Need Howto for RED and V8

Hi,
I'm getting a little frustrated [:(] here. I just can't get the RED Device to work with my ASG320 V8.

Setup so far:

ASG320--Internet--MODEM--Router(with Switch)==RED--PC

Red Device is connected to the Internet and the Tunnel is up.
I can even see that the Red Device is connected to my ASG.

I have set up a Red Interface with IP 172.31.111.1/24 and Packetfilter Rules that allow the RED Interface to a couple of Networks. I also set the RED Device to Split Mode and configured the RED Address and the Network that I want the PC to reach via the Tunnel in the Split Network field.

The Router has a DHCP Server enabled IP Range (10.1.0.0).
I connected another cable from one LAN Port of the RED Device to the router and the PC to the RED Device. I get an IP address from the router.

I configured a route on the PC. Remote Networks via 172.31.111.1. Is this correct?
I can ping google and so on. But I cannot reach the remote Networks via the RED Device. I can't even ping the RED Interface on the ASG. SSH isn't possible either.

What Am I doing wrong or what is missing? [:S]

    Since the tunnel is up, I guess this is just a minor issue.

    As a general rule, you do NOT need to add routes to equipment behind the RED.

    Start with a simple test: Remove the split config for the time being (use "Unified" mode), and add a DHCP server for the RED interface on the ASG. Also enable ICMP options under "Packet Filter->ICMP". When the tunnel is up, check if the ASG can pick up DHCP from the ASG. If that works, try pinging the ASG RED IP (172.31.111.1). If that works too, check if you can ping internal equipment from the PC behind the RED. Finally, add a masquerading rule for the RED network on the ASG and check if you can ping internet hosts from the PC.

    When you add split routing, make sure to include the RED network in the split routing network list.

    thanks for your answear.

    I forgot to add the DHCP Server on the RED Interface. I thought I have to use the DHCP from the Router.

    I configured it like you said and it worked.

    But I can't get the Split Mode to work. When I enable the Split Mode, my PC does not get an address from the RED Interface DHCP anymore.
    I configured Split Mode, added my networks and the RED Interface.

    Or do I have to use the DHCP from the Router know?

    Sorry, I think I don't quite get how it works.

    Hi,

    the DHCP from the router will not work in any case - RED builds a layer2 connection between the ASG and the RED LAN ports.

    For split mode, don't specify the RED interface IP, but the whole RED network (172.31.111.0/24) instead (there should be an "Interface-Network" definition already created).

    Hi, I got it to work, even the Splitmode. :-)
    I had to configure the Router as DNS Server for the PC. It also worked with the ASG as a DNS but it was very slow.
