Red Subnet with Mask

Today I tested our first red and its handling is realy smart.
In the future I want to use some 25 Reds.
So I would like to split subnet spaces by masking i.e. 255.255.255.248 in order not to create to many subnets with all the configuration needs.
When creating a new red entry I can only enter x.x.x.1 for the red, no more net definitions.
How can I do this?
Maybe in the future?

  • It seems like you might want to have an addressing scheme that reflects the physical location of each RED, and that would be easier to do if you chose the "classic" approach of assuming that you were using 255.255.255.0.

    For example, you could assign them like this, naming each RED interface by its location:

    Beijing = 172.20.1.x
    Frankfurt = 172.20.2.x
    Paris = 172.20.3.x
    Etc.

    Then, that would let you create a network definition for a supernet = 172.20.0.0/19 which would include all locations.  All of the other subnet definitions would be created by the Astaro.  In addition to "Internal (Network)", you would have "Beijing (Network)", "Frankfurt (Network)", etc.

    Then again, maybe I've misunderstood your question?

    Cheers - Bob

  • Just do Not use Automatik config and define the Interface yourself.

  • Thanks - that' s the solution!

    Thanks maygyver - that' s the solution - but not to be found without your help!
