Cannot get Firewall to Block this IP for some reason ???

NetRange: 203.0.0.0 - 203.255.255.255
CIDR: 203.0.0.0/8
NetName: APNIC-203
NetHandle: NET-203-0-0-0-1
Parent: ()
NetType: Allocated to APNIC
OriginAS:
Organization: Asia Pacific Network Information Centre (APNIC)

Does anyone know the Full List of IP Range of this APNIC Network or the - Asia Pacific Network Information Centre (APNIC)

I have added a Firewall Rule to Block this IP 203.0.0.0/8 at Port 80 and for some reason, I still can see my PC connecting to it from viewing my COMODO Firewall Logs ???

I set the "Network Definition to 203.0.0.0/8" and "Services to Port 80" and set the "Rule to Block"

Why does my PC still connect to 203.0.0.0 ???

Can someone please help out ???

Thank you and regards !!!

  • That is indeed why. You can turn the web filtering off to test and confirm. You should see the block occuring in the firewall logs then.

The reasoning this is happening is because the web filtering is intercepting port 80 (http) and port 443 (https)

Once you have confirmed this, you can place a block in the web filter.

  • If I want to use the Web Filtering Feature,

How should I go about it ?

  • Under Web protection > Filtering options > websites

Create new website. Specify domain, CIDR or whatever you want for the site, ip etc that you want blocked

In the same window, there is an option for TAGS. Create a tag and give it a name eg Blocked websites

Now go back to web filtering > policies

Whatever web policy you are using, edit the filter action and go to websites and the bottom window will have "control site that are tagged in the website list"

Select your tag here that you created earlier eg Blocked websites and specify the action eg block

  • Dear Sir,
