No connection (PING) to specific device

Hi,

I have a device in a network with the address 172.28.0.238, which I can ping and have access to from my local network.

To get external access to this device / network, I created a remote access profile via SSL VPN which has access to "any" network. "Automatic firewall rules" is tagged.

After I establish the VPN connection from an external network I can reach (ping) EVERY device in this network, instead of the mentioned 172.28.0.238.

For example I can ping another IP in the network like 172.28.0.116.

It just makes no sense, does anybody have an idea what could be the cause of this?

  • Hallo Alexander and welcome to the UTM Community!

I suspect that it's the firewall setting on the device at .238.  Test that by making a temporary NAT rule 'SNAT : VPN Pool (SSL) -> Any -> {172.28.0.238} : from Internal (Address)'.
