Sophos delays some emails by 15 minutes

I have 2 Sophos UTM 9 free editons, at home and at my parents. Both Sophos server are responsible for the incoming email, but i noticed that some of the incoming emails (mails from banks and hotmail so far) shows a difference in time sent (by other server, in outlook above the subject line) and received by my Sophos. I am NOT using grey listing.

I have checked the header on this website:

And it showed a 15 minutes delay at step 5, this is the step from SEND SERVER to RECEIVE server (my Sophos).

I have tried to receive emails without the Sophos, and that goes without any problems. ALL the emails arrive within 1 minute. So i am sure the problem is Sophos.

So i have 2 different Sophos installations (Which to me indicates it is not a server problem), which receives the email but some emails (Banks/hotmail) it delays them with around 15 minutes.

Why would Sophos do this and where can i solve this / where can i find these emails? To be clear, the email takes 15 minutes to show up in Mail Manager. So the emails are not held up by the SPAM filter.

The Sophos can also ping the mailserver. The exchange connectivity email test, delivers the email almost instant.

Any ideas??

  • You can see in the SMTP log file whether there was a delay.  Does a search indicate that more than one attempt to send was made?  Show us the log lines from the first attempt (or the only one, if that's the case).
