Steps for QoS on home network?

Hi,

I'm using version 9.411-3.

I've read a number of forum posts but cannot get it right.  I'd like to implement QoS so that certain machines have a bandwidth limit (per device), basically the goal is to stop the kids videos, games, etc from slowing the network down for the rest of us.

My UTM has three interfaces (WAN, LAN & Wifi).  Wifi is using a range of 192.168.2.x, and I've created a group containing 3 devices with assigned ip addresses in the 192.168.2.x range.

How please can I limit their upload and download to say 1024kbits?  I've read about assigning different bandwidth rules to the WAN and Wifi, but its not working.  I should say I'm using the transparent proxy functionality as well to stop them visiting inappropriate sites.

Simple generic steps would be great please.

Thank you in advance

  • So, here's the problem: when using Web Filtering, the "client" is not the individual device behind the UTM, it's the UTM itself.  If identifying the external IPs of the sources of this traffic is too difficult, then you will need to use Traffic Selectors that control by Application.  Source will be "Internet" and Destination will be "External (Address)" or you can use the default Any/Any.
