Network Accounting/Reporting Bandwidth/Visualization

Hello fellow UTMers,

is it possible to create a report that shows how utilized the external WAN interfaces are over a certain period of time in the same form as already shown in the Logging/Reporting - Network Usage section?
(Not showing GB that were transferred but how much Mbit were used when?)

The goal of this is not to find some client or server that is using lots of this bandwidth but to make it possible to determine whether or not an upgrade of the external connection might be in order.

I read alot of the existing articels but only found the typical scenarios which focus on certain network devices using X amounts of data.

If the UTM can not offer such a Report - would the usage of an external application + syslog-Server be adequate to be fed with the needed data?

Thanks in advance!

  • Hi, Jeck, and welcome to the UTM Community!  Your first post.

I've not found a need for that as looking at the Yearly, Monthly,Weekly and Daily graphs seems to be sufficient for my clients.  If you're having problems with a real-time stream, like VoIP, then a dedicated, additional connection might be what you need.

I suspect there's a similar request in Ideas that you might want to vote for and comment on.
