UTM 9.4 HA active-passive cluster and Windows Server 2012R2 NIC team

Hello,

is supported configuration: each of  two teamed eth interfaces of MS Server 2012R2 to another node of UTM 9.4 HA active-passive cluster?

Thanks

M.

  • We have 6x hyperV hosts each load balanced with 2 physical nics going into 2x Cisco 3750x (stacked) which connects to 2x UTM 320's.
2012r2 HyperV is teamed load balanced to the Cisco's using Port channels and standard NLB (not windows own load balancing)

Trunk ports on the Cisco's port channels allows us to throw multiple vlans from the HyperV vm's which in turn the UTM's deal with eg DMZ_1, DMZ_2, LAN etc

    Works well.

You could connect the HyperV directly to the UTM's but don't expect to have load balancing as only one UTM interface will be active at any given time.

  • Thanks for your reply. Server does not have Hyper-v role installed. I suppose, that Teaming mode: must be Switch independent; Load balancing mode: Dynamic or Address hash; Standby adapter: adapter connected to slave member of UTM cluster.
