UTM 9 DHCP behind ATT Arris Modem/Router

Ok, granted, I feel like this should be easy, but ATM I feel a little to stupid to function.

 

I have an ATT issued Arris NVG599 Modem/Router setup to pass my public IP to a UTM 9 server with 2 nics

IN Sophos

eth0 is getting public IP from Arris

eth1 is WebAdmin and DHCP server

I have a 4 port switch.

Now, cabling is where I think I'm failing ... Clearly eth0 is connected to the router and that seems to be working fine.

I THOUGHT , I would have to connect eth1 to my switch to allow for other internal machines to get DHCP from UTM...as soon as I connect it like this I do not get valid addresses to my internal machines. They simply do not connect at all...where am I going wrong?

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated, I'm brand new to the forum and did a search but found nothing this seemingly simple, sorry if I missed it.

    Hi, Nikki, and welcome to the UTM Community!

    The UTM has problems if more than one interface is connected to an Ethernet segment.  If that's not the case, then I suspect your NVG599 is the problem, but go ahead and post a simple diagram of your topology.
