Additional Addresses on LAN

Hi,

I use a number of additional addresses on our WAN interface for various services, but I've never added one to my LAN side. I would like to change the LAN IP of my UTM to one that makes more sense (long story) and I think the best way would be to add the new address as an Additional Address, spend the next few weeks re-pointing clients and servers to the new address, then finally change the "real" address to the new address, thereby eliminating any significant downtime.

Is there something wrong with doing this, or anything I need to watch out for?

Thanks,

Jeff

  • Very creative solution, Jeff.  You should have no problem with that as long as the new IP isn't in a range that might be assigned to another device by your DHCP server.
