UPnP

I know that UPnP will never be incorporated into Sophos.  I really need to use this because several devices that I own will not work at its maximum potential without it.  I also like the traffic reporting of Sophos.  So I'm stuck.  I can use just a Linksys router for these devices but I am interested in seeing the traffic.  I had an idea that I just need an opinion on.  I wanted to hook up something like this..

Right now I have..

Cable Modem --> Sophos --> 6 VLANs defined --> Managed switch with 6 PVIDs

I wanted to try..

Cable Modem --> VLAN capable Linksys router (6 devices, define 6 VLANs) --> Trunk to Sophos --> Ethernet Set to "Ethernet VLAN" -->  VLANs Defined in Sophos --> "Ethernet VLAN"  Out to managed switch -->  Each port set to a different PVID so I can connect each device in a port.

I just wanted an opinion or 2 before taking everything apart.  Can traffic pass through the Sophos without being messed with?

  • So close.. I have this almost working.

    I have:
    Cable Modem
    to
    OpenWRT VLAN capable router
    to
    eth0
    bridged to
    eth1
    to
    Managed switch

    I have connectivity throughout.
However, UPnP doesn't make it from device to the OpenWRT router through the Sophos.

UPnP makes it to the router if I connect to one of the router ports.

I there some sort of muticast thing that I'm missing?
