Set UTM 9 to be ONLY wireless AP controller

I'm new to UTM, so please be gentle. [:)]

I've inherited a network with an ASG120 (FW 9.310-11) appliance acting as router and AP controller to four AP30 access points.

We are experiencing issues with connectivity and would like to insert another wired-only router outboard and upstream of the ASG120. We would like to have the ASG120 act as ONLY a bridge/wireless AP controller and use the outboard router as firewall and WAN gateway.

Doable?

Is there a how-to? I've searched and can't find anything that relates to this firmware/interface, or even the appliance itself.

Yes, it is possible.

Configure UTM with only one interface (LAN) and point default gateway parameter to your new router. Enable DHCP service on UTM and configure it with AP Magic (DHCP 234) option like described in this KB:
