Explanation of packet loss

Does anyone have a reference source for a better explanation of the dropped packets and hosts found in the Executive Report. 

I am specifically interested in why there is packet loss between hosts on my internal network. I have both Sophos UTM hardware and other boxes running the software version.

    If there's packet loss on your network, the drops in the Executive Reports are unrelated.  What are you seeing that makes you think there's packet loss?
