User Portal from Internal (Invalid argument)

Probably and easy fix,
On my internal network if I want to connect to the User Portal I get "Content could not be delivered due to the following condition: Invalid argument" ????

And it is an easy fix... Add httpS in front :-P
I feel silly, but now a better question, why can't the http just redirect to the https??
