Hi Guys.
For quite a while, I was looking for a way to Use my WAN line, with two or more IP Addresses from my ISP (NOT "Additional Addresses").
I'm talking about legitimate IP address that will be assign to a virtual interface and will be seen in the "Uplink Balancing" and that I can use in the "Multipath Rule" like any other interface.
Yesterday I think i have found a way to achieve this.
1. Create new interface, On "Interfaces & Routing" – Interfaces – new Interface – Ethernet VLAN.
2. On Hardware – the same eth number as your normal WAN.
3. Vlan Tag – 1
4. IP Address – one more ore one less than your normal wan IP.
(For example, if your Wan IP is 89.144.257.12, then - 89.144.257.13.
5. Netmask – the same as your normal WAN netmask.
6. Mark Default GW
7. "Default GW IP" – the same as your normal WAN.
After apply, you will see the new interface in the Interfaces window in the "Uplink Balancing".
From now on, you can use it with the "Multipath Rule" just like any other real interface.
This interface work just like your normal WAN line – But deferent IP address, so you can assign different Sources to it, different services to it or different Destinations.
Some considerations:
1. On "Logging & Reporting" – "Network Usage", you will not see real traffic on the graph. If you want to see the traffic, go to Bandwidth Usage.
2. Always remember its only virtual interface.
The reason I need it – security (I want all my surfing protocols to go thru one IP, and all the other protocols thru another IP), but I guess we can find other uses for this idea.
Please have a look at it, and I'll be glad to hear what you're thinking
Regards Goldy.
