virtual UTM swapping interface unecpectedly

Hi,

I am running a Sophos 9.3 virtualized UTM on VMWare vSphere 5.1
Yesterday during normal operation without any configuration changes or updates taking place, the UTM suddenly swapped its interfaces, meaning, that the UTM's internal interface was suddenly connected to the external virtual switch and the other way round, which of course caused havoc with our network's communication.
I did not find any hints in the UTM's or vSphere's event logs to determine to cause of this erratic behaviour.
Hay anyone experienced such an issue and could tell how to prevent it in the future ?

The only things that I can think of is if the VM rebooted and the interfaces were enabled (vBIOS) in the opposite order, as UTM assigned interfaces (eth0, eth1, eth2, etc.) based on detection order during boot. You may be able to manually assign vNIC to eth by MAC address. Does it occur during a vMotion?

We had similar issues with our vApp (HA), but it usually occured when we did a failover to the passive node, so not exactly the same as yours. The problem was solved by running the vSwitch with default configuration, Active/passive setup. When we use Route based on IP Hash we had all kinds of network problems after failovers.

Assigning manual MACs shouldn't be necessary.
