Network Usage Graph - Exporting the data?

I'm on the latest v9 on a Sophos 220.  I can go to Logging & Reporting, Network Usage, and I see the graphs, but I'm not sure how to download the logs in a raw format.  I'm after the logs that show our internet connection to help prove the need for speed.

I've also WinSCP'd into it and dug around, but wasn't able to find these said logs.

Anybody have an idea on how to get these?

I'm not sure what it is you're looking for - something to justify a faster internet connection?

I work in government.  If I can't prove we need it, we won't get it, period!  So this would be a great aid in the case for improved bandwidth.

I basically want to take the raw data and, perhaps, put it into a spreadsheet to make my own customized charts.

Either way, I know that the graphs in the Astaro have to reference to a log file of some sort for the numbers.  I just need that log.
  • Hi,

The network graphs use MRTG and/or RRDTool; the data that is logged is probably not going to give you what you want.

The network accounting system probably has more info, but I don't think there's any documentation for the raw data.

Aside from the reporting systems, have you tried looking at the live traffic graphs, to see what is consuming most of your bandwidth?

  • The graphs and PostgreSQL databases are updated every 15 minutes.  There's no published documentation on the structures of those databases as used by the developers for the UTM.  I've only seen one claim here that someone has found and used them.  If you can't get enough information from the graphs, I'd use Barry's suggestion.

What are your current up/downlink speeds?

    Cheers - Bob

  • Have the same case. It's budgeting season and I'm investigating if there's a need to increase the bandwidth. It would be better if I get an average of the bandwidth from 08:00 - 17:00 only and not the 24 hour period for the previous fiscal year. Did you find any solution?
