How would I do DNS Resolution on my LAN?

Hi All,

I was wondering is it possible to set up the UTM so I can resolve to hostnames? Again I am just experimenting, like the hostname of the UTM on my network is SophosUTM. Am I able to do in house DNS resolution with the UTM? Kinda like how windows domained environment does?

Because ultimately I just want to beable to type in my browser sophosutm.examplenetwork.tk and it comes up?

How would I go about doing this?

Thanks guys

  • If you don't have an internal DNS server, adding a 'Hostname' to a Host definition should do what you want.

So for those with non-contiguous networks and no local DNS, other than creating a host entry for each node that enters your network, how do you get the hostname to resolve in things like DHCP lease table and Web Usage reports?
