Verizon FiOS (residential) blocks outgoing SMTP (TCP/25) now, so one must use their SMTP relays.
They have a couple of relays... outgoing.verizon.net works on port 25 and 587, but does not seem to accept TLS.
They recommend using smtp.verizon.net, but it only accepts connections on TCP port 465. I've tested this from the firewall console with Telnet, and I AM able to connect, so IPTables is not in the way.
However, when I configure Astaro (in Management -> Notifications -> Advanced) to use this server, port 465, TLS checked or unchecked, and authentication, and try to email a backup file, nothing happens (watching with tcpdump or ngrep).
The notification log seems to be indicating that Postfix is not setup for port 465:
