User Portal restricted functionality - Home use vs Business use?

Hi,

I have a UTM virtual appliance setup at home. I've just tried to login to make some configuration changes: I authenticate as admin correctly but I don't see the dashboard, only a very restricted screen with a red warning "Licensed for home use, not for business use" (as per screenshot). What is this and how do I access the dashboard? Have I overstepped the 50 IP limit maybe? (We have relatives visiting and a family bash at home, so likely 20+ additional devices using wifi during the past month). Am I effectively locked to the current configuration?

Thanks for any help,

Daniel

  • Hi

You have logged into the User Portal (not the WebAdmin). Looks like the port for WebAdmin has been changed. You will see a screen similar to the one shown below for WebAdmin:

The one you're on right now, it is a user portal. You may read more about it Sophos UTM: How to configure the end user portal.

If you have the SSH access of the device, you can check which port is used for Webadmin by typing this command: cc get webadmin port  (You can use cc get portal port to check the user portal port.)

    Regards

  • Hi Jaydeep,

That's awesome, good spot! Actually, the solution was slightly different because I noticed one more thing... in my tiredness I put in https://<ip_addr>/4444 not https://<ip_addr>:4444 - the latter is correct and resolves to the admin portal login, the former simply resolves to the user portal login (so I didn't catch my error!).

    Thanks!
