Internal Dns issue on UTM 9

I`m trying to setup UTM 9 as internal DNS server but whenever, i ping any device e.g, workstation1 it doesn't automatically assign domain suffix to it. It should automatically assign domain suffix e.g company.com and make it workstation1.company.com. I`ve set UTM host name to company.com but still unable to get any result. I don`t want to go adding static mapping route.

Can anyone shed some light on how to resolve this?

  • You might want to take a look at DNS best practice.

From where are you pinging - the UTM or from a PC?

Do you have a request route configured for your local domain, or do you not have an internal DNS server?

Are you using the UTM's DHCP server?  If so, have you configured the domain there?

  • Im pinging from pc1 to pc2. Ping does work no issue.

    Im using internal dns server.

I've domain name configured under dhcp in UTM.

    Issue im facing is

That on pinging any client i dont get auto domain name suffix.

  • Add MYDomain.local in request Routing with a reference to the Domain Server Hosting DNS. I would Always use an internal Windows DNS Server as well. The UTM can act as DNS Server

but still when i can i avoid it i use Windows DNS Servers.
