SSH Root Password Not Working

Hello,

For some reason, I am not able to SSH into the UTM with the root password. It always says "wrong password". What exactly am I missing here?

Thanks!

  • Hi Prakhar,

In UTM, you must logon with account "loginuser" then use "su" command. User root have been disable in SSH.

  • You can get in directly as root at the console.  In order to get in as root via SSH, you have to enter your public key on the 'Shell Access' tab of 'Management >> System Settings'.  I use PuTTy for SSH and build my key pairs with puttygen (do a Google on site:community.sophos.com/kb puttygen UTM).

    Cheers - Bob
