DNS EARLY TIMEOUT warning entries in the Web Filter log

Buried in my web filter log (over 1,000,000 entries on a typical day) are a small number of entries (about 40 per day) with function code URID[] and the following text:

T=8156 ------ 2   - Warning: EARLY TIMEOUT: dns context 72 has 5999 ms before it should time out\n

I have a case about this with support, but I don't think level 1 is going to have an answer, so I wondered if someone here can provide insight more quickly.

What does it mean happened?

What, if anything, should be done for troubleshooting?

Thank you!

  • Everyone gets these at times, Doug, so I'd just ignore them as the UTM has "chatty" logs.  I think it's just another case of a programmer not setting a debug flag correctly, but it's not worth fixing now.
