VLAN 1 connect to UTM

I'm a newbie to both AstaroUTM and networking both, with some knowledge but limited experience. I would like to learn step by step correctly .

I have a LAYER 3 HP Prociurve 3400cl Switch and i would like to use it as CORE SWITCH  for my LAB Network.

vdslmodem-->Sophos UTM 425(192.168.0.1)-->HP Switch 3400cl

My first question is how to connect Switch to UTM. ?

1. How are u doing Connections between HP Switch and UTM really IT life ?

2.UTM has Interfaces :LAN WAN DMZ HA eth4 eth5 eth6 ,

at the Moment used connections:

WAN-->DSL MODEM

LAN-->Port1 on HP Switch .

Which Interface do i Need to use if u look at my Network plan?   eth0 LAN Interface better leave so ,and use other free Interface for my Network?

3. Do i Need to give a IP for the Switch ?

Many Thanks

  • Hi,

    you can't use vlan 1 it is the default vlan on any switch.

    You can connect any port on your switch to the UTM and if you want to use VLANs you need to make sure that the port is tagged and the UTM has VLANs 10 and 20 configured.
