Sophos ASG 230 Email Protection SMTP to Exchange 2010 Static Host List Server SPF SoftFail

Hi All,

 

We have an issue with Exchange 2010 Sender ID and Sophos Email protection with Received-SPF: SoftFail

 

We are using Sophos ASG 230 as an email security gateway which is working fine but we would like to increase security and validation by also using Exchange's Sender ID feature.

When we enable the Sender ID feature, the internal email header contains:

Received-SPF: SoftFail (exchangeserver.internal.local: domain of transitioning external@email.com discourages use of 192.168.0.1 as permitted sender)

 

We have correct DNS SPF entries but presumably because the sophos smtp proxy is forwarding the email to the exchange server,  the SPF records do not match because the source address does not match.

 

Any ideas ?
