Email Protection Offsite Exchange

 Sophos UTM  9.408-4

We are a Remote office using Outlook to connect to our Home office's Exchange server.

I have the UTM as our edge device at the remote location. Our home office does not give us admin privileges over the exchange server, but we still want to use the email protection in Sophos to add an additional layer of spam protection in the remote office.

Under routeing I added the domain and set the "Route by:" to DNS hostname using the external mail server dns.  I also added this same dns entry on the Relay Tab  "upstream host/networks".

In my smtp logs I can see that I have not been successful in intercepting and filtering the email due to a faulty configuration. I am just not real sure where I went wrong. Please assist.

Thank you Bryan Johns

  • Hi, Bryan, and welcome to the UTM Community!

How is your configuration different from Basic Exchange setup with SMTP Proxy?  Please insert pictures of the configuration where different.  Which emails are you trying to filter coming/going where?
