9.404-5 update - exim-out issue?

I updated my home UTM to 9.405-5 and ever since that update I have had performance problems.  My UTM is almost constantly running at 100% and my "SMTP Proxy" log is full of the same errors repeating over and over.

2016:07:11-10:50:54 xxxxxxxxxx exim-out[14680]: 2016-07-11 10:50:54 1bM64N-0000pb-A1 == first.last@xxxxxx.com R=dnslookup T=remote_smtp defer (-53): retry time not reached for any host

The SMTP Proxy log usually is less than 1.5MB per day but just 11 hours into my day today it is 345MB due to this error repeating itself.

I'm wondering if I have two problems?  Something is broken on the UTM but the notifications for this other problem are also failing?

  • Hi, Jerry, and welcome to the UTM Community!

    If you look on the 'SMTP Spool' tab of Mail Manager, I bet you see a lot of undelivered emails. If they are inbound, then I guess there's an issue with your mail server.  If outbound, then I guess your UTM isn't properly configured for DNS.  First, try rebooting the ISP's modem and then your UTM.  Any luck with any of that?
