Sandstorm SMTP profile bug

Hi,

we just discovered something worrying: When using Sandstorm with SMTP and the smtp is in profile mode, all the profiles (when set to inherit malware settings from parent smtp) will skip sandstorm albeit the parent main smtp is configured to explicitly use sandstorm.

Only way to have the profiles use sandstorm is to override malware settings inherit and configure sandstorm per profile.

Sophos: Is this a known thing?

Thanks,

Joerg

  • Joerg, the best way to bring this to Sophos' attention is to get a ticket open with Support.

  • Bob, we are doing this as you suggested every time we report a bug here. So happened a few minutes ago (case id 6039534). But when speaking of such an important bug i find it crucial to post it here in the forum first. And I will not change that approach in the future.

    Thanks,

    Joerg

EDIT (an hour later): I confirm that this bug exists in 9.403 & 9.404 and that the change from single to double scan also was not transferred.  Making and Restoring a configuration backup did not fix the problem.  I was able to get a Profile to adopt the Global settings simply by Editing and Saving it.

I suspect that this is a larger error in the config daemon and that no settings changed in the Global profile are transferred to the Profiles except when the Profile is Saved.

You can compare your Profiles to the Global one by doing cc get smtp profiles at the command line followed by cc get_object REF_SmtProExampleDom and cc get_object REF_SMTPGlobalProfile
