Sophos UTM NDR to Exchange Distribution Group

Fairly inconvenient problem with the UTM and Exchange, when running Email Protection.

Sophos responding to the whole distribution group not the original sender or the "owner" of the distribution group.
When sending mail as a distribution group from an Exchange server to a recipient that does not exist, by default the NDR is received only by the original sender or the owner of the group, when using Sophos UTM SMTP relay, the NDR comes from the UTM instead and it responds to the whole distribution group. Is this intended, and not adjustable? Anyone has encountered this before?
UTM 9.4, Exchange 2013.

NDR From UTM :
To: XX-Members <XX-Members@domain.com>
Subject: smtp.domain.com Mail delivery failed : returning message to sender

This message was created automatically by the SMTP relay on smtp.domain.com.

A message that you sent could not be delivered to all of its recipients.
The following address(es) failed:

remote.user@contoso.com
retry timeout exceeded

  • Reinis, I don't think I've seen this from anyone else here in the last few years, so your best bet would be Sophos Support.  There might be a workaround by modifying the exim.conf file, but you would need their blessing before making the changes from the command line.

Outside that, this also should become a Feature Request.  Please post a link here if you enter one.
