Im having some issues getting mail delivered to AOL and a few other places. Basically my network looks like this:
I host a couple email servers for a couple businesses. But I also run a few other businesses and just use the hosted POP/IMAP mail that comes with those hosting providers. So I set those up in Outlook with their SMTP settings etc. Normally its never been a problem to send/receive. I put my computer in the Host Relay allowance setting in Email Protection so it will go out.
But in the last 2 weeks or so AOL and a couple other ISPs have been bouncing back the mail as undeliverable with the following:
This message was created automatically by the SMTP relay on ddpnet.com.
A message that you sent could not be delivered to all of its recipients.
The following address(es) failed:
nameremoved@aol.com
SMTP error from remote mail server after end of data:
host mailin-02.mx.aol.com [152.163.0.99]: 521 5.2.1 :
AOL will not accept delivery of this message.
Heres the thing: ddpnet.com is a domain I host in house as a web/mail server. However Im sending the problematic mail from a non-internally hosted mail domain from an ISP. Im not sure if there is a mismatch going on between the relay name of ddpnet.com (or is this the UTM120 name?) and the actual ISPs mail domain I want to send out.
My suspicion is whats happening is some reverse lookup (dns?) is matching the outgoing mail Im sending on my relayed pop/imap mail through the UTM and coming back to match the actual mail Im hosting on an Exchange server for another domain and finding that they are not the same. And perhaps since its all coming from the same IP address there is a problem?
Ive diddled around with the settings in Email Protection in terms of the authenticated relay, turning on/off POP proxy, etc, but Im not getting anywhere. Same rejections. Its turning into a real drag b/c I use these ISP hosted email accounts in Outlook for business as well and Im having to send emails on alternative networks in order to get them through.
I am not having issues with the mail being sent/received from the SMTP Profiled servers I am actually hosting. Its just an issue with relaying the ISP hosted email to AOL and some other destinations. Even receiving email on my ISP hosted email accounts is fine. Its only an outbound issue.
