Reject Malware during SMTP transaction

advantage:
not having to have the malware in your quarantine, etc.

disadvantage:
possibly rejecting legitimate mail due to potential false positives

If the trojans you mention aren't getting quarantined then I don't think this setting will make a difference.
Are you doing dual A/V scan?

What are the advantages and disadvantages of having this checked under SMTP Antivirus?

We seem to have gotten quite a bit of trojan's through email as of this past week.

I have never seen a false positive on smtp scanning.  If there is something with malware in or attached to it the e-mail is simply rejected your network never sees it..[[:)]]  If you have the ram use dual scanning as well..[[:)]]
