"The SMTP proxy maximum message size requires a number in the range 1-999"

With today's emails getting larger and larger, are there any plans to increase or remove this limitation?

We often need to transfer CAD files and other large image files or documents and this poses quite a hurdle.

Opening up File Sharing sites such as dropbox can be a huge security risk. At least using the proxy gives us a fair amount of logging.

  • Email systems are not meant as file transfer systems; allowing 1GB emails would be a bad move.   Typically, the limits on most mailboxes (corporate-owned, anyway) are 25MB and below.  You need to look into implementing a private file transfer system to handle this sort of file transfer demand; there are many good, and affordable solutions for this sort of issue, I've implemented such systems for many of my customers.   Like you, I do not trust a public file transfer service, so implementing one privately is what we do.
