Email routing based on sender email

I am migrating from some Sophos Email Appliances to the UTM.  One issue I seem to have is that I am unable to see where to apply rules based on internal sender email addresses.

Previously in the Web Appliance we used the following routing rules for internal users.

The internal users had 2 email addresses, one not private that should always route over the internet and another private that would always route via a private network host

eg.
sender:user@private.com - route via private 10.x.x.x(host) network
sender:user@notprivate.com - route via External Internet

There doesn't appear anywhere to configure this within the UTM.

I don't want to route based on receipient domain but the sender domain

Any ideas?

  • Tom, I don't what mail server you're using, but I believe this can be accomplished in Exchange with an additional SMTP Connector.  That would mean NOT sending mail from notprivate.com through the UTM's SMTP Proxy.

    Cheers - Bob
PS I commented about this idea on SMTP: Multiple Hostnames/Interfaces Support.  You might want to vote for this feature.
