mailqueue - smtp spool notification

Hi,

is there a way to get an notification when the mailqueue/smtp spool has a specific size or amount of mails? Ideal as a mail notification to the admin mail account. [:)]

Or how is the best way to avoid 30000 mail hanging in the queue for whatever reason.
The notification panel only alerts when the smtp service is down.

Any ideas?

Thanks

  • It's not currently possible to do custom notifications, but you can enable INFO-154 which will let you know if the data disk is getting too full.

Ok, I can increase the treshold for the disk.

The big question is why do you have 30k emails hanging in the queue?
What is causing them to not go out?
If the mail delivery (we are running mail routing via mx records) does not work for any reason for a couple of hours, the mail queue will be filled up and you'll never notice it. The senders see the mail as delivered. In this case, it might be useful to get a notice,  (xx mails can't be delivered within xx hours. or something like that)

    Thanks
    Cheers

  •  You can also go to Astaro Gateway Feature Requests to submit a feature request for this to be added to a future release. The more votes a request gets, the better chance that it will be added.

  • I think I would like this also. I'm surprised it hasn't been implemented as it could cause the UTM some issues. We monitor our exchange queues but once they go to the UTM, I'm not aware of the smnp oid or notification to tell you that the spool is filling up.

It surely is a worthwhile notification??
