Convert Sophos software appliance to hardware appliance

Hi guys, I have re-installed a Sophos SG135 Appliance with the wrong Sophos ISO, using the software appliance

Now I'm trying to load the license but I get the error that I have an hardware appliance installed with a software appliance ISO

Is there a way to convert the installation without reinstalling from scratch? The firewall is very far from me :(

I'm running latest Sophos UTM version, 9.506-2.1

Thanks guys!

Marco

  • Hi Marco,

the iso mostly differe in the shipped Drivers - in Software Version you have a lot of virtualisation Support in Hardware you have needed Hardware Drivers.

there is no way to fully convert it. any Manipulation will result in loosing Support.

you should be able to Export a configuration Backup, reinstall the Firewall and upload the backup.

maybe you have one nerdy guy in the remote Location who can assist ;)

to upload the Backup you can insert a FAT formated USB stick with the Backup File in Root Directory.
