  • Hi Ben and welcome to the UTM Community!

Folks here don't have too much good to say about Realtek NICs.  See #7 in Rulz.  You might get newer/better information by reading though the recent posts in the thread pinned to the top of the Hardware forum.

    Cheers - Bob

  • Hi Bob,

thank you for welcoming me and for your advice. I had noticed that there are issues with specific NICs. I read posts mentioning this dating years back but could not tell if these issues persist. Thank you for pointing me to the Rulz section which I had not found yet. What I did find was the Unofficial Hardware Compatibility List. Building custom PCs is fun but I was hoping there is a small all-in-one solution which just works. Importent would be 2+ NICs, Wi-Fi, display and passiv cooling. The Zortac ZBOX CI323 Nano is a bit older but is reported to work. It also has Realtek NICs though. Any alternatives?

  • Hi and welcome,

The realtek devices in the past have loaded up the CPU and not been good for high throughput.

Next, the wifi will not work as installed, there threads on various forums regarding making the internal non-Sophos wifi cards work.
