Rollback or disk imaging

As there is no rollback option for UTM 9.x aside from reloading from the previous available version, applying updates to the version you were running and restoring config backups (slow, lengthy and antiquated), does anyone know if a SG330 can be imaged like a windows machine can, using Ghost or Macrium or other software?

Thant would ensure a one step rollback.

More comfort would be a virtual UTM with snapshot technology. I agree a restore function is a missing feature. Maybe considering a standby HA cluster, there you could hold back one device in case of an upgrade and easly switch back.

But to the core of your question, I think yes, but didn't try if imaging would work. Maybe you could tell us, as your question is a few days old.

I wish I had a spare SG330 so I could try imaging the appliance. Thanks for your suggestions, unfortunately they don't apply to our environment. Hopefully Sophos will implement a rollback solution. I have found requests for this feature dating several years back.

Don't hold your breath, mate. The standard answer to this request is "this feature was implemented in our new Sophos XG". I don't think we'll ever see this ported to UTM.

Our setup is 2 x SG330 in a active/active cluster. Applying the firmware automatically updates both appliances. I suppose I could break the cluster, apply to one, test and if correct apply to the other one then recreate the active/active cluster.

There's a built-in way to do that with the 'Keep node(s) reserved during Up2Date' selection on the 'Configuration' tab. I don't recommend opening an appliance as I've been told that that leads to forfeit of the hardware warranty. Breaking HA causes a Factory Reset of the Slave.
