Testing vCenter VM Monitoring / UTM simulated crash

Question

Hi all, I'm currently making some tests with vCenter HA and VM monitoring (reset stalled VMs). Is there a way to simulate a UTM crash? Or is there a way to stop the VMware tools? That would be enough, would need some tweaks at the vCenter level in order to avoid IO heartbeats otherwise HA VM monitoring will never kick in but as a test it's enough.
