Loosing external network connectivity

Hello,

Every morning, i must connect on my UTM WebAdmin and click the renew button of my external adapter to be able to connect on the internet.

I thought that my problem was related to the UTM value 576 that was always assigned to my NIC (plugged in a cable modem). After having reported my problem here in the forum, i was able to change definitively the UTM value to 1400 (thank you again for the help).

https://community.sophos.com/products/unified-threat-management/f/hardware-installation-up2date-licensing/92836/configuring-mtu-network-interface-for-internet-provider-via-cable-modem/336286#336286

Unfortunately, this didn't fix my problem and i still continue to lose the connectivity. I do not find any information in the log file neither.

My UTM is installed under a VMWare ESXi 6.5.

Any help is very welcome :)

Thank you,

Cheers,

Fred

  • Hi Fred,

The first thing to try is changing to VMXNET3 NICs if you're not already using them.  After that, I would try #7.7 in Rulz.  Any luck with either of those?

  • Hi Bob,

I've changed my UTM value from 1400 to 1496. It's already 2 days and 13 hours of uptime and my link is still UP!

I don't know if this change did the trick but i have never had a so long link up time.

I did set up also the uplink monitoring + balancing on a second spare NIC.

Rule #7.7 is indeed interesting, i'll check that!

I'll keep you inform and give you a feedback in 2-3 days.

    Thank you,

    Fred

  • Hi,

It's been more than five days now and my link is still UP (no balancing neither).

All seems to be very stable now.

This is a good thing, i can continue to go deeper in the configuration of my UTM.

Bob, thank you also for your feedback and suggestions.

    Greetz,

    Fred
