After updating to 9.501-5 SSO for HTTP authentication failed and domain join not working.

UTM 9.501-5

Windows server 2012 domain controller.

I installed the 9.5 update on June 2, did not see any issues with this for the client, updated to 9.501-5 on June 12 midnight, and Internet access is failing on multiple sites.

Can get to Google.ca

Cannot get to canada411.com - Too many http redirects message.

Turned off web filtering and the websites were available - but the client requires filtering.

Re-enabled and turned off AD SSO authentication and websites are available again with correct content being blocked.

Attempted to remove from and rejoin domain, but domain join failed.

Currently, I have the client functioning, but, I need to rejoin AD and resume SSO authentication.

  • Worst part is, once you wipe the device to go back to a firmware version that works, you lose all your history - including history of all the files that SandStorm has analyzed.

Every firmware update i have done up until now hasn't been an issue.  Whomever does their testing and quality control missed this one - and it's pretty basic stuff.  Web Protection authentication.

Very frustrating not having any estimate on a fix after 4 days.

  • Tammy,

How hard is the restore to prior firmware?  It sounds like a nightmare that could go south very badly.

I turned off authentication and its limping... wondering if I really want to 'downgrade' to fix the issue......

    Suggestions????

    Thanx!

  • It wasn't difficult - i just downloaded the ISO for the firmware version I wanted to go back to, created a bootable DVD, booted the device to that ISO image on the dvd and let that run.  Takes about 20 minutes.  Then you restore your backup to get the configuration - but the backup has to be the same firmware version as the restored ISO image.  But you do lose historical data, and any downloads that sandstorm has analyzed will need to be analyzed again.

I hear they might have a patch coming for this issue - but I'm going to wait until everyone else has a chance to install it and test it before I move forward.

Besides, its fiscal month and fiscal quarter end.  No chance i'm going to get any downtime until early July anyhow!

    Good luck!
