ESXI + Sophos UTM ASG + 4G USB

Hi, I'm doing some testing on Sophos UTM 9.5 ASG. I have an ESXI 6.0 server with 4G USB dongle connected to it (Huawei E3372). I added a USB controller and SCSI device to map USB to VM but I can't see it when I try to add a new interface under hardware. Am I missing something? Are drivers for those devices loaded when ASG is installing or can they be added later? is 4G supported via ESXI or i need to have a dedicated server for this Sophos ASG installation?

  • Hi, Pawel, and welcome to the UTM Community!

At installation, only the drivers for existing devices are loaded.  This is a stripped-down Linux of a security device, so the OS is not plug-n-play.  The recommended NIC for UTM in ESXi is the VMZNET3.

    Cheers - Bob
