[CRIT-026] License usage: EXCEEDING 110% OF USER COUNT on Sophos UTM

Hi,

I want to submit a problem already submitted on this forum but for which the solutions proposed did'nt work.

Since a while (more than two weeks ago), i received a notification from the firewall claiming that i've exceeded 110% of user count for my license (i use 15 IP).
The complete message is "[CRIT-026] License usage: EXCEEDING 110% OF USER COUNT on Sophos UTM".

The cause of this is probably because i've used an LAN IP scanner when i've set up my network. All the 250 ips reported in the email are part of my network segment 192.168.1.X.

I've tried 2 solutions proposed on the forum but it didn't work for any of them.

1. type the following commands in the shell

cc set licensing active_ips =[]
cc set licensing user_limit_exceeded 0

2. go to myutm.sophos.com/licenses.php, download the license file and reapply the license on my sophos UTM.

Any help will be very appreciated!

Thank you.

Fred

  • Salut, Fred, and welcome to the UTM Community!

Those have been deactivated by Sophos - too much cheating.  If you have paid support, I think Sophos Support can do the reset for you.

The only thing I know to do is to get some configuration backups off the UTM, do a Factory Reset and then reboot the device with a USB memory stick containing your most recent backup in the root directory.

Let us know the outcome, stp.

    Cheers - Bob

  • Hello Bob,

Thank you for your welcome and for the reply to my post.

I don't know if it's a coincidence or if my message was read by the support but it was reset today :)

My UTM runs under a VM (ESXi 6.5), probably the equivalent to the factory reset would be to copy a previous backup of my VM.

Anyway thanks again for your reply Bob.

    Cheers,

    Fred
