Is Atom 1.8GHz Fast Enough For VDSL

Im currently running a Supermicro X7SPA-HF with Atom 1.6GHz dual core processor with 4GB RAM, running the lastest 9.4 UTM version

I have all options running well including IPS and 2 AP15 access points.

My presently running an ADSL connection with 5MB Down / 0.5MB Up with no problems.

However in the near future I will be upgrading to a VDSL connection instead with 76MB Down and 10MB Up, will my existing hardware suffice or will I have to update.

If I have to update I would be grateful for any suggestions (I have already looked through the hardware compatibility threads, but not all of them show down / up speed), using a ITX form factor.

  • Hi,

my opinion: wait for your new line. If it's there give your hardware a try. If you then notice speed limitations, you can switch to a new hardware.

P.S.: for speed tests deactivate IPS, if activated ;-)
