Nearing my license limit

When I first setup my UTM, it didn't dawn on me at all that I might have a problem with the 50 user license limit. Well, apparently my home is more connected than I thought. Between the game consoles, smart thermostats, Chromecast, Amazon Echo products, etc. I'm receiving email notifications that I'm at 90% on a much more frequent basis.

This got me thinking. How does the UTM track a "user" session. Does the UTM consider a TCP session an active user until the final TCP FIN - FIN/ACK - ACK is seen?

Is there somewhere in the WebAdmin portal you can get a glimpse of current users consuming a license?

  • Whatever you do be wary of Windows 10 Insider Preview builds. i think the latest build on a single machine has just caused my license count to increase by around a hundred in 24 hours.

Hopefully 'netsh interface ipv6 set privacy state=disabled' will fix it.
