Would a Zotac IQ-01 be sufficient for this setup?

I am considering the following:

Repurpose my Zotac IQ-01 (Currently my primary Plex Server) as a Sophos UTM. (I will likely end up moving Plex to my main desktop)

Repurpose my RT-AC68R to Access point only.

I recently switched from 200/20 internet to 1000/1000 (For the same price!!)

I realize that running a UTM gives me much better security than what my AC68R is capable of, but I am concerned about bottlenecks. (allegedly the snort portion is a single threaded resource hog...)

(There are 4 Phones/ 4 tablets/ 3 Laptops on wireless AC not shown on the map...)

You're right that the limiting factor will be Snort. If you check some of the posts by William, you will see that you should get the fastest quad processor you can afford. In any case, you'll not get much more than 300Mbps for any single connection.

One of the threads at the top of this forum lists hardware used by others.

this box has an i7-4770t (4 core/ 8 threads)

(I do not think anything better can fit anyway between form factor/ PSU/ TDP limits)
