Makes this sense ... Hyper V Server with Sohpos UTM (Home) and Windows Server 2012 Terminalserver

Hi. I am a new Sophos Home User. So I bought me a Zotac nana with 8GB and 120 SSD. This was a recommandation and I am very happy.

I am thinking, If i could install Hyper V Server on it and install Sophos al an appliance here and a second machine (2012R2 Remotedesktop)

The 2012 is only for testing purposes and will only be in user for 15 Minutes a day ...

I think, this should be possible to install the sophos under Hyper V Server Core, isn´t it?

Thx for help :-)

  • I've run UTM under both Hyper-V 2012R2 and 2016 without an major issues and it's been rock solid.

Only issue is that for some reason my WAN port keeps getting an IP address from the my Windows DHCP server if it's running when I reboot the UTM VM.

  • Are you sure that this port is "separated" from your local LAN? Normally it shouldn't be able to get an internal address on your external NIC if they are correctly separated from each other.

  • yep.

It's a separate network card that's only plugged into my cable modem (an Arriss 2472 iirc that's in bridge mode).

The card is on it's on virtual switch and the option to manage the vm through it is deselected

With UTM it's self, the WAN connection is on eth0 as created at installation, default gw for IPv4 and IPv6 and dynamic IP.
