First time on community and trying to fill in for a missing Sys Admin. Looking for help upgrading from SG 320 to Sg 330. Any help is greatly appreciated

I Need to upgrade from SG 320 (9.335-1) to Sg 330 (9.311-3) but can't have SG 300 on network until full operation has been verified. Where can I find the up2date installers to put on USB to achieve this?
Once I have the SG 330 updated to at least match the SG 320 the I plan to restore.
Thoughts?

  • Why can't the other UTM be on your network? Change the local IP so it isn't using the same as your existing UTM and update it or do what you need to do to the firmware. Don't over complicate things.

Of, if you must...this was easy to find btw

  • Hi, Ronald, and welcome to the UTM Community!

Agreed with rsenio - the easiest is to run through the installation wizard to set the unit up with an unused internal IP, giving it the IP of the 320 as its default gateway.  Then, connect it to your network and let it download the Up2Dates automatically.  Pick the version to which you want to move (I suggest 9.405) and start the process.  The system will automatically install the prior Up2Dates.  Disconnect the 330 and upload the backup from the 320.

One "trick" I like to use to keep from having to reset the ARP tables on devices directly connected to your Ethernet ports is to set the 'Virtual MAC Address' on each port on the 320 to be identical to the actual MAC.  Then, your 320 backup will enable you to simply connect the 330 in place of the 320.

  • Bob,

Would this procedure also work for upgrading a UTM cluster? I would be going from a UTM425 cluster to a SG310 cluster.

    Thanks!

  • Yes - it should work for all appliances as long as the new one has an equal number or more NICs.

Unless your 425's were almost asleep, I would consider the 330 instead of the 310 if you're thinking about gigabit internet during the lifetime of your new SG.
