Swap Memory Steadily Increasing

Hey Everyone,

I'm quite new to the Sophos world, I recently installed a SG115 UTM and I have to say it is running fantastic.

While checking up on it to make sure it is running healthy, I have been noticing the swap usage increasing steadily at about 2-3% daily. Interestingly enough, the actual memory has not yet once hit 100% so I am not sure as to why it is swapping.

I am running UTM 9.405-5

When I look at Support > Advanced > Process List, this process appears to be the big spender.

810 29456 2.5 31.0 1565292 1228076 ? Ssl Sep13 38:34 /var/chroot-http/usr/bin/httpproxy -f -c /var/chroot-http -u httppr

Anyone have any thoughts or Ideas as to what could be going on?

Thanks!

Matt

  • I just wanted to add, the beginning of the slope was when I had enabled dual scanning in order to turn on sandstorm.

As a test I disabled dual scanning, and I'll see  if the swap stays at the same level. I hate to throw the word memleak, but it seems to be behaving that way. Albeit a very very very slow leak.

Also, is dual scanning a must for sandstorm?

  • You can have single scan if you select the Sophos scanner in 'Management >> System Settings'.  Also, try updating to 9.407 to see if that resolves your issue.
