UTM HOME to ASUS RT-AC88U

Hello Sophos Experts!

Anyone here have a good document or can point me to one on creating a wireless bridge between UTM HOME and an ASUS RT-AC88U (Asus calls it a Media Bridge)?  I successfully created one between a Cisco 1811W and ASUS RT-AC88U but it is too old and slow, and want something a little faster.  The UTM HOME will be a 32 bit Intel P4 and what the best PCI Card Wireless NIC to use with the hardware and UTM.   I know, it is not 64 bit or PCI-e but it will still be faster than the 1811W.  I may end up purchasing all my computers a wireless card and go directly to the ASUS instead of just creating a wireless bridge.  However, trying to work on a budget so I don't have hear the CFO (wife) complain... :-)

In Summary:

1.  A good document or point me to a good Community post on creating a wireless bridge (what Asus calls a Media Bridge) from a SOHO connected UTM HOME to the Internet Connected ASUS RT-AC88U.

2.  What is the best PCI NIC to use in a 32 bit Intel Pentium 4.  And no, I do not have 64 bit machine with PCI-E available.  However, it should still be faster than a Cisco 1811W.

Thank you!

You guys rock!

  • Hi, Greg, and welcome to the UTM Community!

I recall that several people reported using the same card as found in the SG 1##w devices.  Fellow member Trollvottel suggests one here that he had no problem with.

    Cheers - Bob

PS I found that quickly by googling site:community.sophos.com wireless NIC appliance
