License expired/lost after unsave shutdown

everytime my Sophos UTM (latest release) experiences an unsave shutdown (power loss due to thunderstorm) the system afterwards asks again for the license.

is this a known issue?

hardware is a PC Engines APU2, Sophos UTM is installed onto a 60GB SSD.

regards,

michael

  • Are there any hints in the logs?

Check for time related issues - I have seen systems where unexpected power loss with a bad CMOS battery leads to a similar result. The hardware fails to maintain time ( RTC) so the hardware boots with a default time outside the license window, then a license checks nukes the license before NTP updates the system time.

  • thanks for your answer.

which logfiles would I check? there's no license-related logfile.

I don't think that it's RTC related. AFAIR, the UTM would reject the license file if the clock is set to a date in the past (date before the license file was issued).
